Writer's Block

I began writing seriously about 3 years ago, diving into my first feature length screenplay called "The Famous Jonas Wilde". I'll never forget that terrifying moment when I created a new document, only to be faced with a daunting blank canvas. Sitting there, taunting me from the screen as it awaited my direction, my creativity, my words... Yikes!

Fast forward 3 years and 2 completed screenplays and I still find that blank canvas of opportunity as intimidating as ever. I'm continually plagued by the fear of the dreaded Writer's Block. What if the ideas just stop coming? What if my mind stops working? What if I wake up one day, unable to comprehend the English language anymore? Sound crazy? Well I've played each one of these hypothetical situations out in my head, with many more silly ideas too weird to even admit.

But fear not fellow creative minds, for I have discovered the solution to our Writer's Block. Think back  to the story of Moses in the book of Exodus. God had called him to the incredible task of freeing the Hebrew people from captivity. Of course Moses objected, concerned that he was a poor speaker and wouldn't know what to say. Can't say I blame him for responding this way. And yet, God's response:

Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.

So here's the scoop. God has called me to tell stories. I'm not sure what that means or where it will take me, but I know that's where He wants me. I have to stop putting all the pressure on myself and trust that He will be with my hands and teach me the stories to type. If it's a massive success, give glory to God. If it's a colossal failure, blame God! Haha! Just kidding but you get the point.

All I know is, if God is big enough to heal the sick and raise the dead, He's big enough to help me fill a few blank pages with words. So bring on the stories God, bring them on...
